Depending on what country you have chosen to train in will determine what amount of training and where you will need to train to become a medical esthetician. In America you need to do at least six months of medical training after preliminary studies in certificates for nursing or medicine. Many people can go straight to the medical esthetician training however employers are looking for staff with background and experience in medical practices.

In Australia and New Zealand you can do the same training as in America or you can make your way through a nursing degree and then add extra subjects to become an esthetician. The other option is studying directly at an academy or subjects at a university full time or part time. Many of the institutes in Australia, America and the United Kingdom will honor their certificates or diplomas at an international level. Some of the degrees that lead you to this position also have exchange programs where you can spend one semester overseas learning about different techniques while getting to see the sites.

There are quick qualifications to get in some states of different countries like the American state of Texas. A seven day course in medical esthetician is all that you need to get a job in this state however like I have pointed out in the previous paragraph most of the employers are looking for more than just a quick certificate and during this economic crisis they can afford to be picky about who they hire. The training is definitely worth the effort if this is your chosen path because a career as a medical esthetician working to improve people’s skin is very rewarding indeed.
